April 2020, Jakarta's Exports Decline, While Jakarta's Imports Increase Thinly

Abstract

The value of Jakarta's exports in April 2020 has fallen sharply again by 26.76 percent after a moderate decline in March 2020. The decline in exports in the Indonesian capital was one of them triggered by the decline in exports to a number of destination countries in Asia such as the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia. In addition, a significant decline in the value of exports in one of Jakarta's leading export commodities, namely vehicles and parts, also contributed to Jakarta's weakening exports.

On the other hand, Jakarta's imports during April 2020 increased slightly by 1.59 percent compared to the previous month. Jakarta's import increase was driven by rising imports of goods from China, although imports from several other countries declined. The imported goods are mostly classified as the use of raw and auxiliary materials and capital goods.
