DKI Jakarta's Foreign Trade Performance Slowed Slower at the Beginning of 2020

Abstract

BPS Jakarta Province recorded that Jakarta's export figures in January 2020 dropped compared to the previous month, while Jakarta's imports increased. Exports of goods from Jakarta dropped moderately, while imports with the final destination of shipping to the Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC) in the Jakarta area rose significantly.

The decline in exports of goods from Jakarta in the opening year of 2020 was triggered by the decline in rubber exports and goods from rubber, fish and shrimp, and knitted goods. These goods are the main export commodities from Jakarta.

On the other hand, rising imports tend to have a negative impression, but when explored further this is not the case. The categories of goods that dominate and encourage Jakarta imports to increase in January 2020 are raw and auxiliary materials. This class of goods is used for further industrial processes. Therefore, this shows a fairly good prospect of the manufacturing industry.
