The National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) is a survey specifically designed to collect continuous employment data. The employment data and indicators generated by Sakernas are crucial for sustainable development and are widely used for planning, monitoring, and evaluating government development programs, particularly in the employment sector, across various sectors. Sakernas provides estimates of key employment data and indicators, such as the number of employed people, the number of unemployed, the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT), the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK), and others, at the national, provincial, and district/city levels. Several employment indicators generated by Sakernas can also be used to monitor the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
Sakernas, conducted in February 2026, was implemented in 38 provinces and 514 districts/cities across the Republic of Indonesia. The February 2026 Sakernas data collection included a sample of 7,740 SLS, or approximately 77,400 households, to generate representative data down to the provincial level. This sample size includes an additional sample of 60 SLS, or approximately 600 households, to obtain specific estimates for the Indonesian Capital Region (IKN).
In an effort to continuously maintain and improve the quality of Sakernas data, BPS conducted officer training from January 19-22, 2026. Following the training, officers will update the SLS data from January 24-February 7, 2026, and collect sample household data from February 8-25, 2026. With enthusiasm and dedication, we will achieve quality data for the advancement of the nation.
