The Consumer Price Survey (SHK) is a survey that is routinely carried out to monitor the transaction prices of goods and services between retailers and consumers, and is the basis for calculating the Consumer Price Index (CPI) which reflects inflation and deflation conditions in society. Apart from SHK, there is a Quality Volume Survey (SVK) which identifies the quality of main commodities with high sales volumes, as well as a Rice Retail Sales Volume Survey (SVPEB) which collects retail rice sales volume data based on quality. These three surveys provide a comprehensive picture of price and market dynamics that is needed in preparing economic indicators and public policies that are right on target.
Evaluation of the implementation of SHK, SVK, and SVPEB was carried out to review the quality and accuracy of survey implementation in the field and ensure that all stages of data collection were carried out in accordance with statistical methodology standards. Through evaluation activities, BPS examines the enumeration process, data validation, and the challenges faced by officers, so that the resulting data remains consistent, can be compared between periods, and is relevant in describing price and volume conditions in the market.
Apart from that, the evaluation also functions as a forum to strengthen officer capacity through feedback and technical direction, as well as preparing better quality control strategies for subsequent surveys. In this way, the evaluation results become the basis for continuous improvement to maintain the quality of price statistical data so that it remains accurate, reliable and useful for policy makers, economic actors and the wider public.
